Mr. Thompson was born on February 23, 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Clyde Jacob Thompson, Sr. and Myrtle Hogan Thompson. On September 30, 1950, he married his love, Barbara Ann Powell, and together they had seven children. He attended St. Matthias and St. Aloysius High. He worked for New Orleans Public Service, Inc. for almost 40 years and retired in 1987. Always a dedicated parishioner and selfless volunteer of St. Mary Magdalen Church for over 60 years, he was awarded the Order of St. Louis Medal by Archbishop Hannan in 2006. For many years, he was a member of the Holy Name Society, volunteer at East Jefferson General Hospital and with his wife, Barbara, enjoyed square dancing at the Bar None Ranch and camping with the Dixie Wheelers.
Mr. Thompson loved life, always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips…always there to brighten the lives of family and strangers alike. His family was his pride and joy, and the legacy of his kind spirit and zest for life will live on through them.
