Mr. Charles Anthony Andrews, Jr. devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather departed this life on February 10, 2011. Mr. Andrews began his fruitful life on October 18, 1940 in New Orleans, La., one of three children born to Charles Anthony Andrews, Sr. and Alice Saubat Andrews. He will forever be remember as the beloved husband of Mrs. Patricia Pattison Andrews. Left behind to cherish his memories are a son Captain Craig Charles his wife Beverly, two grandchildren Captain Jason Charles and his wife Jennifer and Brandin Elizabeth, and two great grandchildren Ella Charlie Andrews and Rylan Ruel Knight. Also survived by his sister, Maryann Arcement and preceded in death by his brother, Louis Eugene Andrews. Mr. Andrews grew up in New Orleans, graduated from Holy Cross High School, and attended Tulane University. His professional career centered around the Maritime Industry. In 1962, he joined T. Smith and Son working in various capacities and in 1965 he joined Crescent Towing in the capacity of Operations and Sales Manager. Mr. Andrews was named Vice President of Crescent Towing in 1968 and by 1980 he was appointed Executive Vice President. On July 8, 1992, he became the President of Crescent Towing, which he served until he retired on November 29, 2000. In 1996, the New Orleans maritime community honored Mr. Andrews as “Maritime Man of the Year”. His dedication to work in the maritime industry was evident by his long time membership in the New Orleans Board of Trade and serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the World Trade Club and past President of the Propeller Club of New Orleans while serving as a Board Member for the National Propeller Club. During his life before and after retirement, Mr. Andrews was an active member in Mardi Gras, where he served as Captain for 30 years for “The Knights of Sparta” in New Orleans. He loved Mardi Gras, it was a year round tradition and he eagerly awaited the coronations, balls and the parades. The stories and treasures of Mardi Gras he shared with his family will never be forgotten. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles Andrews at a visitation Monday, February 14th from 9am until 12pm at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St, New Orleans, Louisiana. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
