Carolyn Holmes Smith, born on June 11, 1936, passed away on June 29, 2017 in Metairie, Louisiana. Loving wife of the late Sidney Kendrick Smith, Jr.; loving mother of Karen Smith Prendergast (Patrick), Sidney Kendrick Smith, III (Marlene), Kevin Gerard Smith (Sandra), D. Keith Smith (Allison) and Kristy Smith Broussard (Brent); adored grandmother of David (Lauren), Brady, Alyssa, Christopher, Sydney, Brandon, Philip and Caitlyn Smith and Caroline, Luke and Jeb Broussard; daughter of the late Archie Edward Homes, Sr. and the late Mildred Combel Holmes; sister of A. Edward Holmes (Linda) and Richard Holmes (Bonnie). The family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Oaks Living Center for their loving care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
