Carolyn Rose Locascio Herron peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at her home in Mandeville, LA. Carolyn was born in New Orleans, LA on June 18, 1948, the daughter of Frank Joseph Locascio and Lester Inez Chain Locascio. She lived most of her life in the New Orleans area, except for 14 years that she resided in Houston, TX.
Carolyn was a proud graduate of Warren Easton High School, class of 1967. Post high school she worked for 20 years eventually ending her career at Pan American Life Insurance Group.
After her career, Carolyn put her energy into homemaking and her children. She did volunteer work with their schools, substitute teaching, and actively supported whatever programs, clubs, or athletics they were involved in.
Carolyn joined the Krewe of Flora based in Slidell, LA in 1986 as marching band coordinator. When her good friend and mentor became ill, Carolyn took over as Captain, a post she held until 2003. Carolyn enjoyed crafts and was an excellent seamstress. She made many of the costumes for the Krewe including elaborate head pieces.
Carolyn enjoyed good music and was an excellent cook. She was and old soul with a kid’s heart. She always had a magical connection with children, volunteering with Toys for Tots, being a second mom to all of the kids in the neighborhood and going to Disney World whenever she could. Most of all she loved her children and even more adored her grandchildren. They were always the focus of her life and as a result she made impacts on them that can never be taken away.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Michael Herron, her daughter Leslie A. Ross and her son Robert M. Herron. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Amanda A. Binger, Emma R. Herron, Caroline G. Herron and her sisters, Antonia Locascio, Deborah Carbone and Lisa Locascio. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her beloved brother, Salvatore Locascio.
Visitation will be held on January 8, 2021 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St, Mandeville, LA. Funeral Mass will be held following visitation on January 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St, Mandeville, LA. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
