Carolyn Jean O’Steen Copeland died peacefully Sunday afternoon in the comfort of her own home. She was 92. Known to most as Jean, she lived a very full life. Born in St. Augustine, Florida, she was the youngest of 4. She attended the University of Miami and subsequently moved to New Orleans to be close to her oldest sister, Lilian. Soon thereafter, she met and married her husband, the late William A Copeland III, and they enjoyed a wonderful 51 years together. She started her career as a paralegal at the Monroe and Lemmon law firm, but most of her career was spent as a proud Popeyes franchisee. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She loved to travel and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Copeland Dominguez, and her grandchildren, Sophia Copeland Dominguez and William Copeland Dominguez. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Rosa Corlett, Ruth Rodriguez, Jessica Ruiz, Isabela Sanchez and her caregivers.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the graveside service on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Copeland tomb in Metairie Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
For those so desiring, donations may be made in her memory to the Northshore Humane Society.
