Carlota Rivas passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the age of 93. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Maria Moncada and son Francisco Moncada. Carlota is survived by her seven children Justa Moncada, Carlos Moncada, Candida Moncada, Roman Moncada, Carmen Moncada, Angela Verdecia and Maria Nguyen; over twenty-five grandchildren; over fifteen great-grandchildren; over five great-great- grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered for her joy of cooking for her family. Carlota will be deeply missed. Visitation will be on Monday, October 16, 2017 beginning at 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans and then on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 beginning at 10:00a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
