Bradley Joseph Luminais, Jr., passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of 45 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Metairie on July 28, 1978, Brad attended St. Charles Catholic High School and graduated with honors as salutatorian. He attended Louisiana State University graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communication and was a member of the LSU Power Lifting Team. After graduating with highest honors, Brad decided to further his education at LSU by enrolling in law school. He served as Student Body Vice-President of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center and graduated in 2003.
Brad joined Chopin, Wagar, Richard and Kutcher, LLP upon graduation and became an immediate asset. He was promoted to Senior Associate status in the short time of only three years and Partner within five years. Ultimately, the firm changed names to Kutcher, Tygier and Luminais, LLP. Starting in 2019, Brad joined the team at MAPS Mediation Arbitration Professional Systems, becoming one of the most highly sought after mediators due in large part to his passion and genuine concern for his clients. The friendships that were developed during his time mediating were some of his most cherished.
Brad had many passions in life but none compared to his love of Friday Night Football. He co-hosted the All State Sugar Bowl Prep Football Roundup on WWL Radio for the past five years after participating in the show as a reporter for some 15 years. Nothing brought Brad more joy than covering and producing the Friday night show forever signing off as: “This is Brad Luminais — The Esquire.” His passion and spirit for high school football will live on Friday nights at WWL.
And then there’s his love affair with everything LSU. Brad met the love of his life, Brandy, at LSU during their years studying journalism. As a longtime season ticket holder of LSU Football, Brad was lucky enough to attend and witness LSU win three national championships in football, sharing the 2020 victory with his boys. He also made the trip to Omaha to watch his Tigers take home the baseball national championship in 2009. As an alum of LSU, the highlight of Brad’s last year was learning that his oldest son received the coveted LSU Stamps Scholarship, following in his parent’s footsteps as a Tiger. Nothing made him prouder.
Brad was an active parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Church, serving as a school board member for several years, coaching middle school basketball, and actively participating in the SCS Men’s Club. Brad and his wife were also members of the self-proclaimed 7 AM Mass Club, attending daily morning mass with the fiercest prayer warriors who constantly prayed for Brad and his family during his cancer journey. Brad was a coach at Pontiff Playground for many years and also spent time coaching football at Christian Brothers School.
And while his work and pastimes were important, Brad’s family was his ultimate passion. He leaves behind his wife, Brandy, whom he was married to for 20 years. Their love knew no bounds. His boys, Brady and Beau, were his greatest achievement and his ultimate legacy. Beignet, the family’s dog, stole his heart from the first day she came into his life and brought him so much joy.
He is survived by his parents Brad and Etta Luminais, his brother Blake Luminais (Lindsey), his in-laws Ronnie and Lynne Comeaux, his brother-in-law Ryan Comeaux (Erin), niece Ali Luminais, nephews Colin Comeaux and Brock Luminais, and countless other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Billy and Geraldine Luminais, Leonard Ordeneaux, Sr., Lietta Ordeneaux Veron, and his brother-in-law Greg Comeaux.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and a Mass to follow at 12:00 PM. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brad’s name to Jesuit High School or St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
