Beverly Bryant Haik passed away peacefully with family at her bedside, on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the age of 90. She is survived by her son, Robert Bryant Haik, daughter-in-law, Nadia, and her triplet grandchildren, Caitlin, Robert, and Nadia. She is also survived by her cousin, Carl Bryant (Marilyn); her nephews, Dr. Philip L. Haik, Jr. (Lynn), Lawrence Haik (Carol), and James Haik (Janie); grand-nephew David Haik (Denise), grand-niece Suzanne Haik and several other grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Cherie Michelle Haik; her husband of 65 years, Robert George Haik; and also by her parents, Herbert Conger Bryant and Dorothy Godley Bryant.
Beverly was born on December 13, 1924, in Seattle, Washington. She was proud of her volunteer service during World War II, which included the Nurses Aids Corps in Seattle hospitals. This program was designed by the Red Cross to release nurses for military duty. She completed the Red Cross course while she was a student at the University of Washington. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
Beverly met her husband Robert, when he was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, after his ship was being repaired in Bremerton, Washington. Later they married and moved to New Orleans, where they raised their family. She was active in the parents’ organizations of her children’s schools and the scouting programs.
Beverly was an angel on Earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to Goldie Flanagan, Dr. William Lacorte, Dr. Gregory Vorhoff, and to the many Right at Home Caregivers, including but not limited to Lainie Dazet, Janis Collins, Sylvia Johnson, Denise Whimper, and Desireé Bertrand. Also special thanks to Mary Alice McKay for her prayers and support for Beverly throughout the years after her daughter Cherie’s death.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans LA 70124, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, with a Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
