Beverly Ann Saucier Fontana was called home by her Heavenly Father on Thanksgiving night, November 24, 2022, at 92 years old. Born on January 2, 1930 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Louis Joseph Saucier and Rose Zechenelly Saucier and sister to the late Rose Mary Saucier Laborde. Beverly was the devoted spouse of the late Hector Joseph Fontana. She was the loving mother of 5 children: Wayne Joseph Fontana (Kay), the late Michael John Fontana (Jane), Dwight Joseph Fontana (Melanie), Gina Fontana Arnold (Edward “Hank”), and the late Rodney John Fontana (Sherrie). Beloved “Granny” to 10 grandchildren: the late Christopher W. Fontana, Allie F. Segura (John), Jenny F. Lewis (Ray), Carol Anne Fontana, Ashley A. Addison (Bryce), Joseph M. Fontana (Katelyn), Edward H. Arnold, IV “Chip” (Katherine), Madeline A. Fontana, Cooper J. Arnold, and Meghan A. Fontana; and 6 great-grandchildren: Kata Segura, Margot Segura, Anna Lewis, Alexandra Lewis, Eloise Addison, and William Addison. Beverly was a lifelong New Orleanian and a graduate of Holy Angels Academy. She worked at Godchaux's Department Store on Canal Street, where she trained to become a buyer for the store. It was there that she met the love of her life, Hector. Mrs. Fontana then focused her life's work on caring for and attending to her family, offering limitless attention, effort, and love. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life, active in her parish of Saint Frances Cabrini and the Holy Angels Alumni Association. Beverly was on the Board of the Musicians’ Federal Credit Union and enjoyed work with the Vista Park Garden Club. She volunteered her time and boundless energy to all, but her greatest source of joy was nurturing her family and watching it grow. Her faith and service to others never wavered — even through the sudden loss of her husband, the total loss of her home from Hurricane Katrina, and the early passing of two sons and a grandson. Her selflessness and resilience remain as an example to all.
