Bertha Buckingham Marshall passed away at the age of 89 on July 27, 2021. She was born on September 1, 1931 to the late Carrie Egan Buckingham and Philip C. Buckingham in New Orleans, where she attended McMain High School. She made a career of over 30 years doing clerical and lab work with Winn Dixie.
Always crafty, she loved making ceramics, sewing, and playing cards. She also enjoyed trips to the casino.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Vollenweider (Wayne) and Wendy Tanner (Marc); her grandchildren, Steven Vollenweider, Brent Vollenweider (Tim), and Victoria Tanner (Kenny); her granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Vollenweider; and her great-grandchildren, Kaylin Vollenweider, Ethan Meyer-Vollenweider, and Jane Dupre.
The family would like to give their special thanks to Lakeside Hospice, JenCare, and St. Francis Villa for their care.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home located at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 beginning at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass to begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum to follow.
