Barry Gerard Schexnaildre

It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Gerard Schexnaildre, Sr., 64, announces that he went to be with the angels on Friday, April 12, 2024. Barry was a lifelong resident of Metairie. He attended St. Louis King of France and went on to graduate from Archbishop Rummel. Barry is survived by his best friend and spouse of over 41 years, Susan, his two beautiful daughters, Abby (Matt) and Brooke (Trey); two grandsons, Blake and Jacob Hooper, who were the light of his life. He was so proud of those boys! He is also survived by his loving siblings, Gary (Irene), Laurie (Jerry), Ashley (Patti), Mark (Kelly) and youngest sister Gayle. Barry is preceded in death by his beloved son Barry, Jr., mother Rita Carol (nee Lockhart), father and mother-in-law George and Fay Koeneke, who loved him like a son; sister Beth, brothers-in-law Bill Main and Sam Foti. Known as “B” to most, he loved his family more than words can express. He also loved old cars, his Harley Davidson, bowling, traveling, and attending the kids and grandsons ball games. Barry especially loved to go to the family camp in Fourchon to fish, crab, and have a wonderful time. Let us not forget the memories and fun times at the family farm Cherry Hill in Folsom. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, beginning at 10:00am followed by a 11:00am service at Lakeview Christian Center, 5885 Fleur de Lis Drive, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124. Interment will be private.
