On Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Anthony P. Rizzuto, Jr., better known as Tony, Junior, or Uncle Bubba, was called home to Jesus surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his “Cajun Queen” Doris Gaudet Rizzuto with whom he spent 51 loving years of marriage.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted daughter, Lisa Rizzuto Thorsen; his son-in-law, Tim Thorsen; his precious grandchildren, Gabrielle Thorsen Senentz and Thomas Thorsen; and his bonus grandson(in-law), Daniel Senentz.
He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Rizzuto Gaudet; his brother-in-law, Art Mauterer; and multitudes of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special shout-out to Anthony’s best friend, Harold Gourgues.
Anthony was born on February 4, 1941, in New Orleans to Anthony P. Rizzuto, Sr. and Rita Faust Rizzuto. He was the only boy among four sisters, Marilyn R. Dusang, Rosemary R. Gaudet, Cynthia R. Mauterer, and Terry R. Corcoran. They grew up in Little Woods, or what he called “God’s paradise.”
He was the owner of New Orleans East Iron Works. He was an avid fisherman and he loved duck hunting. He was a huge fan of Saints, LSU, and Tulane football. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He adored his family. Doris and Lisa were his world. And then came his grandchildren, Thomas and Gabrielle – the apples of his eyes – they absolutely adored their Paw Paw. Tim and Daniel made his family complete.
If you would like to honor my father’s memory, go and create beautiful memories with your loved ones. It is what he did with us, and we will be forever grateful.
Interment will be private at St. Louis Cemetery #3.
