Mr. Anthony Chief Francis Alessi Jr.

Anthony “AJ” Francis Alessi Jr. (also known to his friends and loved ones as the “Chief” ) age 79, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, holding his hand on October 12, 2014. Loving and devoted husband of Janice (Jan) Labat Alessi for 59 wonderful years. Loving father of Rick Alessi (Keich), Kerri Olsen (Kevin), Lori Alessi Wilson, & Dave Wilson. Grandfather (PawPaw) of Jaime’ Standiford (Scott), Lindsey, Jordan (Danielle), & Shawn Olsen, as well as Trace & Kane Wilson. Great-grandfather of Beau, Weston, Taylor, Tre’, Haylen, & Calli. Brother of Gene Alessi. Brother in law of Barbara Alessi, Norman (Joy), Robert (Judy), Wayne (Frieda), Donnie (Jan), & Etienne (Diane) Labat, as well as Charles Jackson. Godfather of Robin Dutruch, Donna Saucier LeBlanc, & Timmy Lambert. Son of the late Anthony “Tony” Alessi Sr. and Hilda Alessi. Also survived by cousins, neices, nephews, & friends. AJ was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Metairie for the past 51 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing golf, fantasy football, and most of all, his grandchildren. The Chief will be missed tremendously by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ralph Corsetti, Dr. W.Terrall, and Dr. B.Scott as well as the nursing and ancillary staff on the 6th floor GISS unit at OMC for their kindness, compassion, patience, and quality care in the last few weeks of his life. Also, a special thanks to Dr. “Chip” Lavie for years of medical guidance and most importantly, friendship. Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church on Saturday October 18, 2014. Visitation at 10am followed by a memorial mass at noon. Private burial for family to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Angela Merici Catholic Church.
