Andrew G. Pierce, Jr., Ph.D. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Born on January 6, 1936 to the late Andrew G Pierce, Sr. and Alma Devine Pierce. Survived by his daughters Erin P Hayward, Maureen P Lambert, Kelly P Boe and their mother Marguerite Fastring Pierce. He was beloved by his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his daughters Margie Pierce Thomas and Cynthia Ann Piece. Graduate of Jesuit High School and the University of New Orleans. A member of the American Chemical Society, he was a research chemist at USDA Southern Regional Research Center for 28 years, and retired as a chemistry professor after 37 years of service at UNO. An avid bridge player and life master, he was a member of the LA Bridge Association. Having a proud Irish heritage, he was a long-time member of the Irish Channel Marching Club. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2013 at Christ Church Cathedral on St. Charles Ave. at 10:00am with a Requiem mass following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation or The Lighthouse (formerly The Lighthouse for the Blind) would be greatly appreciated.
