Amy Giordano Melnyk passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the age of 44. A beloved wife and loving mother, she was a loyal parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Algiers. Recently, Amy was made a NOFA Hero, lending support to others fighting cancer.
Amy is survived by her husband, John Melnyk, III; daughters, Ella Elizabeth Melnyk and Josephine Evelyn Melnyk; her son, Jackson Vallee Melnyk; her father, Michael Giordano; sister, Michelle Giordano Buisson; beloved cousin, Brian Acosta and his family; and many close friends. She was also a devoted Nanny to Pierce Buisson, Paxton Buisson, Maddox Acosta, Grace Rodriguez, and Porter Buisson.
Amy is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Berges Giordano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 beginning at 11:00 am at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Algiers. Mass will follow visitation at 3:00 pm. A repass will follow at 5:00 pm at The Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts at Huey P. Long Ave. and 4th St.
