Alice Karl LeJeune passed away on September 6, 2021, peacefully in her sleep, at the young age of 102. She was born in New Orleans on December 11, 1918, where she resided her entire life. She was the proud mother of 3, grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 13. She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney LeJeune, Sr., her parents, George and Barbara Karl, and 6 siblings. She was a graduate of Holy Angels High School. She lived in St. James Major Parish her entire adult life, until Katrina forced her to Metairie with her daughter. She was known affectionately as Maw Maw to all who knew her, and treated all of our friends like family. Family was most important to her, and she had a way of making each of us feel like her favorite. She loved being in her kitchen, cooking huge meals to feed the whole family. For years, Jasmine Street was the place to be on Tuesdays, for the famous Tuesday Night Dinners. Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve were lifelong traditions, with feasts provided solely by Maw Maw, and all were welcome. She was a wonderful seamstress, sewing prom dresses, dancing costumes and wedding attire for the family. She loved playing cards, whether with her cousins, or teaching games like Stealing Casino to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She taught us all countless songs, prayers, recipes and life lessons, as we have all reminisced this past week. She will be missed by all, but especially her daughter, Gail LeJeune, and her sons and daughters in law, Michael, Sr. and Pamela LeJeune, Sidney, Jr. and Darlene LeJeune, her grandchildren, Jonelle Fulton (Jerry), Gerard Yager (Karla), Jennifer Garvey (Paul), Melanie Boudreaux (Craig), Michelle Nichols (Chad), Michael LeJeune, Jr., Stacie Pomes (Ryan), and Erin Herrin (Grant), as well as her great grandchildren: Kyle Fulton, Alex Ballard, Ava Boudreaux, Mary Cate, Meg, Jack and Patrick Garvey, Blake, Luke and Anna Nichols, Trey and Lindsey LeJeune, and Eivy Yager. The family is appreciative of the staff of both Lake Town Village and Notre Dame Hospice for their love and care of dear Maw Maw. Friends and family are invited to a funeral mass on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 12:00 pm: 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124, with a visitation from 10:00 am- 12:00 p.m. Please wear a face covering.
