Alice Harang Hebert was born on September 16, 1948 to Dr. Warren Harang and Eleanor May Hebert who resided at 70 Audubon Boulevard in New Orleans, Louisiana. She passed away on March 21, 2022 in her son’s home in Covington, Louisiana after her faith centered journey with cancer came to an end. She firmly believed that God kept her alive for seven years because she had an assignment to fulfill. Although we will miss her dearly, Alice’s legacy of love, generosity, and faith as a Kingdom Builder for Jesus Christ will live on forever.
Alice attended school at Holy Name of Jesus, Mercy Academy, and Louisiana State University where she was a member of Pi Phi Sorority. She was a debutante in 1968. Alice was a teacher, a Realtor, an antique jewelry expert, and a certified medical community living assistant “house mom” for mentally challenged adults. She found fulfillment living out her purpose of positively impacting the lives of others by showing them Jesus’ love.
Alice’s charismatic personality allowed her the opportunity to brighten others’ days by sharing her personal testimony and the Word of God. She enjoyed blessing others through her devoted service at numerous local ministries, including Way Maker and the New Orleans Mission. Alice had the natural ability to express love the way others needed to receive it; this helped her make a profound impact in numerous peoples’ lives. She also founded a bible-based home church named Holy Ghost House, which focused on prayer, worship, and feeding the homeless on the streets of New Orleans for a decade. Alice was truly a “Mighty Woman of God”.
Alice is lovingly remembered by her son, Glenn “Chip” Gardner; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Gardner; her grandson, Glenn Parker Gardner; her brother, Craig (Brenda) Tolbert; her sisters, Eleanor Farnsworth and Catherine Tolbert; her niece/godchild, Catherine (Michael) Nowak; her nephews, David (Lisa) Farnsworth, Stephen (Amy) Farnsworth, Scott Tolbert; Sean Tolbert; and close extended family, Crystal (James) Gardner-Phillips and Ada Davis.
