Alice Rodrigue Garcia

Alice Marie Rodrigue Garcia passed away on May 30, 2018 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Lloyd Thomas (Tommy) Garcia Jr. for 54 years. Loving mother of three children-Troy Thomas Garcia, Tracey Lee Garcia Becker (Philip Becker) and Travis Michael Garcia (Tonya). Loving “Mimi” to five grandchildren-Ryan Andrew Garcia, Joshua Sidney Becker, Amanda Marie Becker, Trevor Michael Garcia and Ashton Michael Garcia. Loving step- grandmother to Dylan Bird, Anthony Louviere and Stephen Louviere. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Joseph Rodrigue Sr. and Hazel Marie Rodrigue Caminita Luent. She was the granddaughter of the late Joseph Placide Rodrigue and Amy Marie Courteaux Rodrigue, Eval Derouen and Olive Marie Verret Derouen. She was the only sister to four brothers-Louis Joseph Rodrigue Jr. (Patricia), Victor John Rodrigue Sr. (Connie), Clifton Paul Rodrigue (Sharon), and Ray James Rodrigue Sr. (Suzanne). A native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Metairie for 54 years. She worked for various engineering firms as a drafter/designer and retired form URS Engineering in 2007. Alice was a beautiful person inside and out. She brought sunshine wherever she went and made you look forward to seeing her again. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to Dr. Kiran Naqvi, Dr. Nathan Fowler, and the caring staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Marcus Black and his staff at East Jefferson General Hospital. Relatives and friends of the family are welcomed to attend a memorial service in her honor on Saturday July 7, 2018 at 12:00 PM at St Catherine of Siena Church in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please send in memory and honor of Alice donations to the Halo House Foundation in Houston, TX.
