Alice Sarrazin Brennan, age 90 years, peacefully went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 5th, 2016. Her loving family was at her side. Alice was born in New Orleans on January 26th, 1926, the daughter of the late John J. Sarrazin and Melvina Bernard Sarrazin. She is survived by her three children, Kathleen Brennan, Edward Brennan, Jr. and David Brennan; six grandchildren, Kelly Ann LeBlanc (Jason), Edward Brennan, III, Alice Creaghan, Lauren Brennan (Lenny), David Brennan, Jr. (Ashley), and Paul Brennan; as well as four great-grandchildren, Madison Creaghan, Connor Creaghan, Jaden Brennan and David Brennan, III. Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward G. Brennan, and her brother, Stanley J. Sarrazin.
Alice was active for many years in the Republican Women’s Club of Jefferson Parish, and served as club President in 1988 – the year the Republican National Convention was held at the Superdome and George H. W. Bush was elected U.S. President. She wrote the club newsletter for several years, served as cookbook chairman in 1992, and won awards for several of the club scrapbooks she produced. Alice was also elected to the State Central Committee of the Republican Party.
She and her husband Ed enjoyed horse racing and owned several thoroughbreds. “Spellbound” won the Hollywood Derby in 1986.
Alice loved animals, and adopted many stray cats, dogs and even ducks, and she supported local humane groups. She was passionate about protecting wildlife, particularly wolves, and supported wildlife organizations. She loved her family deeply, had a great sense of humor, an incredible memory, a strong will and was very sentimental. Alice was much loved and will be sadly missed.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the special people of Covenant Home and to Passages Hospice for the loving care Alice received.
