Quaker Hill - Susan Plante, 64, of Quaker Hill entered into eternal peace at home Tuesday, August 16, 2022. She was born and raised in Amsterdam, NY, daughter of Casmir and Stacia Trzaskos, who survive her. In May of 1980, she graduated with a B.S in education from the State University of New York, Geneseo, and later earned her M.S from the College of Saint Rose in 1981. She worked for Mitchell College as a learning specialist for many years and retired as director of Mitchell College’s Bensten Learning Center in May, 2014 after 25 years of service and leadership. While at Mitchell College she worked tirelessly to help develop a nationally recognized academic support program for students with learning disabilities. Throughout her life, Susan was a voracious reader. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and other wildlife that would come to her backyard, and would always regale her family with stories about their antics. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and most recently grandmother. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Thomas Plante; daughter Carolyn Plante of Ledyard; son Mark Plante, his wife Christina, and their daughter Ellie Rose of Concord, NH; brothers Robert Trzaskos and his wife Mary Jane of Johnstown, NY; William Trzaskos and his wife Doree of Monroe, WA; sister Linda Foster of South Hadley, MA; brother-in-law Paul Plante and his wife LouAnn of Yarmouth, ME; sisters-in-law Celeste King of San Juan Bautista, CA and Michelle Snicer and her husband Gregory of Brentwood, NH; and nieces and nephews; Colleen Driggs, Abigail Foster, Christina Snicer, Benjamin Plante, Nicholas King and Sean King. The funeral will be private and will be held at Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY. She will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
