Rita Mary Manke

Mrs. Manke was born on September 30, 1926 in New Britain the daughter of Clayton and Theresa Sheehan Morgan. She married Herbert Manke on June 10, 1950 in Bristol, CT. She was employed as a secretary for the New Departure Co. and the UCONN ROTC.

Mrs. Manke was a charter member of and lifetime volunteer at Christ Lutheran Church. For many years she was Sunday School Superintendent. Her hobbies were genealogy and local history.

Mrs. Manke is survived by her loving husband Herbert, her son Robert Manke of RI, her daughter Karen Chapman of Gales Ferry, her brother Clayton Morgan Jr. of Wolcott, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Manke and her three sisters.

Services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 11:00am in Christ Lutheran Church in Niantic.
