It has been now over 50 years ago that your son Garrett tragically lost his life at 17 on Sept. 8, 1973.  Garrett was the one person to inspire me to become pursue a career in mechanical drafting and I marveled at his excellent hand writing.  In the first day of school in 1973,  just days before his passing,  I asked Garrett to number from 1 to 500 on a piece of paper.  He did that for me and I kept it to this day.  He also gave me hundreds of his baseball card collection from the mid 60s to early 70s and I treasure them today. He introduced me to a game called Strat-O-Matic baseball(card-dice game) which I still enjoy playing today.  I still have five original 1969 teams(Tigers, Braves, A's, Cubs, & Twins), and that I cherish like gold.  We enjoyed playing neighborhood baseball games and he once visited my home for some ping pong.  He met my Mom once and she knew from me that he played the piano beautifully.  I met Garrett's Mom once and will never forget the thank you card she sent to me after Garrett's extremely shocking tragic death.  I kept that card to this day and it touches my heart and soul always.  I never attended Garrett's funeral for it was just to sad for me but I did know that the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London was where his final resting place was.   Every time I passed it driving by, I knew he was out there somewhere in those 40 acres of land.   By fate,  I attended the funeral of my lifelong neighbor in July of 2023 and as I began to leave, I looked to my right and seen the headstone of the name LEBER.  It was but 19 steps from my neighbor, and God above, maybe Garrett's Mom June Leber wanted me to reunited with him at long last♥.  God Bless you Mrs. June Leber for giving life to you wonderful Son Garrett.

The memory of my dear high school 17 year old friend Garrett Leber, who was taken from us far too soon,  will remain in my heart for as long as I live.  After 49 years, I finally found his final resting  place(by chance and fate) at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London.  My long time next door neighbors had passed this past year, and at the funeral of Mrs. James Colonis, I seen the name LEBER on a gravestone just 19 steps away from hers.  Mrs. June Leber and her beloved son Garrett were calling me to at long last pay my respects to them both.  Sept. 8 of this year(2023) will be the 50th anniversary of Garrett's tragic passing, and I will look so forward in visiting both Mrs. June Leber and son Garrett once again.  Rest in Peace to you both♥

My name is William Mikuliewicz and I will never forget the son(Garrett M. Leber)of Mrs. June Leber.  I went to grammar and high school with Garrett and met Mrs. Leber only once in person.  Garrett tragically dies in an auto accident on Sept. 8, 1973 as he started his senior year at Montville High School.    Mrs. Leber sent me a card after I sent a condolence card to the Leber family.  I still have the card and will treasure it forever.  Garrett was my inspiration to pursue a career in drafting technology because his penmanship was the best I have ever seen.  Garrett had the best Mom one could ask for and to her surviving family(son Mike and husband John), may she rest in peace with her son Garrett in heaven above. Even though it has been nearly 50 years ago that the son of Mrs. June Leber's life was tragically taken, I will never forget her son Garrett.  We went to grammar and high school together and Garrett, who had a beautiful handwriting, was the inspiration for me to pursue a career in drafting.  My handwriting was good, but Garrett was gifted and loved baseball and introduced my to a game called Strat-O_Matic baseball, which i still enjoy playing today at age 66.  Garrett also give me hundreds of his baseball cards from the mid to late 1960s and also the early 1970s.  He was a huge Pittsburgh Pirates fan and I am so glad for him that they won the World Series in 1971.  After Garrett's fatal car accident on Sept. 9, 1973 I sent a condolences card to Mrs. Leber and she was so nice to send me a card with a beautiful message that Garrett always spoke well of me.  I still have the card and something special that I always wanted to share with the Leber family.  I know Garrett had a brother named Michael and I want to give him a piece of paper on which numbered from 1 to 500+ during a study hall in the first week of high school, just days before fate would take his life too soon.  I still have the newspaper which includes a photo of the fatal crash scene.  I never went to see Garrett's final resting place in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London, CT.  It was all so sad and I refused to accept that he was actually gone from this earth.  As the years passed I often wondered where Garrett was in a huge cemetery like the Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London.  I often accepted I would never find his plot but always knew he was in the good hands of the Lord above.   I am not the biggest believer in miracles, but yesterday on June 11, 2022 a miracle happened and it was like Garrett led me to his final resting place.  I was attending a funeral burial for a neighbor, and as I looked a row over, I found Garrett's plot.   A miracle happened and I will never forget that day.  RIP Garrett.

I cannot believe you are gone! I am so sorry I could not be there or whisper the words I love you! I will always remember you saying you are my little girl and I always will be! You touched  the world with your grace and beauty! You touched us all and we will never forget you! Until we see you again! I will always love you and smile when I think of you! Love always your little girl!

Ray and family- I was so sad to read about June. She was a wonderful friend to Anna and Harold Jansen. I know you all shared many good times together. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time.

Uncle Ray, Michael, our Angel is looking down on us.  Aunt June had a strong bond with Wendy and myself.  I'm glad we could be the daughter and granddaughter while we lived in Connecticut.  A space for her will never leave our hearts, minds, memories.  Her love for family, friends, and animals will stay with us forever.  Goodnight dear (Sarah) June.
