He was born on March 17, 1951 in New London, the son of the late John C. Engle and Frances Engle Walsh.
John was employed for 35 years as a pipefitter at Electric Boat and 5 years with Local 77 Pipefitters Union.
He was grateful to live close to the shore where he enjoyed all aspects of water activities including boating, line fishing, shell fishing and in the past was a certified scuba diver.
He is survived by his family Linda Grace and Richard Smith of Groton, Diane and Jim Chidester of Ledyard, nephew Nathan Grace of Hoboken, NJ , uncle Russell Ficarra and cousins Michael, Bobby, Tommy and Rusty Ficarra.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday August 11th, at 214 Ring Drive, Groton from 2pm to 5pm. All friends of John and his family are welcome to join us.
