Gerald Hecker

Jerry was born on March, 30, 1935, in Lancaster, PA.

Mr. Hecker was a veteran of the Navy, serving during the Korean War. While stationed at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, he met his future wife Marie Rose Reno. He was also a Plank owner of the USS Rigel (AF 58).

He was employed for many years at Ruby Glass in New London.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie; their children Deborah Hinman and her husband Dan, of GA, Rosemary Sholley of Groton, Robert Hecker of Lisbon, Dale Hecker and his wife Heidi of Long Island, and Raymond Hecker of GA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandsons, and one nephew Barry Richardson and his wife Jan, of PA. He was predeceased by his son Donald.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday August 31st from 7-9pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday at 11am at Jordan Cemetery, Boston Post Rd., Waterford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of SECT, 227 Dunham Street Norwich, Connecticut 06360, or to Lawrence & Memorial Community Cancer Center, 365 Montauk Ave., New London, CT 06320.
