Mrs. Walsh was born in New London the daughter of Jack and Margaret Sullivan Ficarra. She was employed in Civil Service for the US Government for many years until her retirement in 1991.
She was a member of the Groton Senior Citizens Center where she participated in dance, chorus, and many other activities. Fran fully enjoyed her retirement years filled with trips, activities, shows and a network of wonderful friends.
Mrs. Walsh is survived by her daughters Linda M. Grace and her partner Richard Smith of the same address, Diane P. Chidester and husband Jim of Ledyard, a son John P. Engle of Groton, her grandson Nathan J Grace of Hoboken N.J, her brother Russell Ficarra of Springfied, MA, Russell’s sons, her nephews, Michael, Bobby, Tommy and Rusty, stepson Curtis Walsh and family of Carthage MO and stepdaughter Susan Williamson and family of Summerfield FL. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Walsh in 1995.
Her memorial service was private. The family is extending an open invitation at 214 Ring Drive on Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 1:00 until 4:00pm, for all who wish to join us in remembering her loving spirit and the memories of all the good times we enjoyed throughout the years.
