Donna was born on July 6, 1955, in Manchester, CT, the daughter of Fred Ellsworth Cram and Agnes Brundza Cram. She married Lawrence Magee on March 29, 1975, in New London.
In addition to her husband, Donna is survived by her son Leon Arthur Magee and his wife Maryana of San Diego, CA; her daughter Bonnie Lynn Magee of Scottsdale, AZ; and sisters Betty Parris of Northeast, MD and Susan Knowles of Waterford. Donna was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Donna received her Associates Degree in Human Services from Mitchell College. She had numerous interests including herbalism, gardening, cooking, astronomy, swimming, rowing, sailing, ham radio and emergency management.
Donna was a very spiritual, caring and empathetic person and was very close to nature. Frequent pastimes included gardening, keeping her fish, birding and nature walks. She felt close to the water, and was a member of the John Gardner Chapter of the Traditional Small Crafts Association. She liked spending time with her cats, and filled her yard with love and life through her many gardens and her fish pond. As a lifelong astronomer Donna was an active member of the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society.
Donna (radio call sign KB1RPP) was the Manager and a Net Controller for the local National Traffic System, which is part of the Amateur Radio Relay League. She was also a member of the Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Club as well as other amateur radio and emergency management organizations.
Calling hours will be held on Monday April 2nd from 5-8 pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday April 3rd at 10 AM at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 60 Huntington St., New London.
