Gales Ferry- Arthur M. Burnett of Pinelock Drive, 92, died peacefully in his Gales Ferry home Wednesday, April 23, 2014 surrounded by his granddaughters Christy Socha, Stacey Lillibridge and his loving friend and care giver Zhour Elotmani.
Mr. Burnett was born on November 14, 1921 in New London the son of Louis Burnett and Anna Burnett Lake. He was employed for many years as a machinist at Electric Boat. He proudly served our country in the US Coast Guard in WWII. He served on the LST 764. He was awarded a bronze star.
Arthur was an avid boater with a love for Block Island. He enjoyed his fishing trips including cooking his catch for his family on Sunday's. Arthur's boat the "Carol B" spent decades at the Shennocossett Yacht Club where Arthur served as Treasurer for many years.
Mr. Burnett is survived by three granddaughters, Stacey Lillibridge of East Haddam, Christy Socha of Bozrah, and Aimee Lillibridge of Voluntown, 5 great-grandchildren, his sister Joan Lake-Kaiser, sister-in-law Jeanette Burnett and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Hazel Holmes in 2010 , his daughter Carol Lillibridge in 2013 and a whole lot of life-long memories.

A Graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 1:30pm in Gales Ferry Cemetery 14 Hurlbutt Rd Ledyard, CT 06335.
