Mr. Steven Paul Segura

A memorial service celebrating the life of Steven will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia, Louisiana. Inurnment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.

On February 15, 1959, Steven Paul Segura was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He primarily grew up in Charenton, Louisiana where he learned how to fish, which eventually became his way of life.

Steven was a lifelong commercial fisherman who had a passion for fishing, watching LSU and Saints football games, and Mustangs. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and always had an interest for inventions. A devoted father, grandfather, and loyal friend, Steven always put others first, and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Steven is survived by his mother, Helene Jeanne Boudreaux of Butte La Rose, Louisiana; two daughters Maria Segura Shipp and her husband Ronnie of Tallahassee, Florida, and Isabella Bungay of Delhi, Louisiana; one step-son, Steven Glenn Vail of Delhi, Louisiana; one grandchild Sean Paul Shiver of Tallahassee, Florida; two step-grandchildren Amber Vail and Haley Vail of Delhi, Louisiana; three brothers Robert Segura and his wife Tina of Norman, Oklahoma, Dale Segura of Mesquite, Texas, and Kenneth Segura of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; four sisters Gwen Dupont and her husband Gerald Dupont II of Melville, Louisiana, Blanche Trahan and her husband Gregory of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Tina Resweber and her husband Chene of St. Martinville, Louisiana, and Bonnie Latiolais and her husband Andy of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; lifelong friends Henry Wayne and Gloria Truelove of Charenton, Louisiana, and Howard “Brother” and Sheila Tabb of Baldwin, Louisiana, and the many children he fostered over the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alief Anthony Segura; his maternal grandparents, Mayer “Pokit” Boudreaux and Lena (Johnson) Domingue; his paternal grandparents Jean Jacque and Marie (Melancon) Segura; and two nephews Patrick James Segura and Joshua Mack Segura.
