NEW IBERIA – Funeral services celebrating the life of Sharon Spivey Burke will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 25, 2019 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Pastor Andy Starks of Cornerstone Cowboy church will officiate. Sharon will be laid to rest privately at a later date. Sharon’s services are being held on her 65th birthday in honor of her earthly birthday and Heavenly home going.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Burke passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 64.
Born on February 25, 1954 to the late John and Betty Miguez Spivey, Sharon was one of two children. She was a kind and loving woman who cared deeply for her family. They were first and foremost the most important in the world to her. Sharon loved every moment spent surrounded by friends and family, especially with the grandchildren and her family in Mississippi. She enjoyed sewing, caring for and riding horses, and league bowling. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be truly and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-eight years, Richard Charles Burke; daughter; Michelle Elizabeth Arnold and husband Michael of New Iberia; sons, Colton James Rogers and wife Taylor of New Iberia, Shane Micheal Rogers and wife Ashleigh of New Iberia; and Coy Burke and wife Katie of Youngsville, brother Walter Drew Spivey of Houston; nieces Brittany and Brooke Spivey of Houston; grandchildren, John (Ashley), Joshua (Brittannie), Aysha (Bradley), Maci, Kash, Kreed, Tyler, Zane, Dakota, Cheyenne, Logan, Alyssa, and Lauren; and great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Ayvalehn, Adlei, Alivia, Isibeal, Ansley, and Kai. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, godchildren, and several lifelong friends.
She especially treasured her special and dearest friend, Susie Hebert.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Miguez Spivey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sharon’s sons and grandsons.
