HENRY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ryan Patrick Segura, age 37, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at St. John Catholic Church. Fr. Manny Fernandez will be the celebrant and conduct the Mass. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday at St. John Catholic Church, 18534 LA 689 in Henry from 9:00 am until time of Mass.
Ryan Patrick Segura was born September 17, 1977 in New Iberia to Chris A. Segura and Jaci Elizabeth Hebert, and passed away January 2, 2015 in New Iberia.
Ryan was a 1995 graduate of Catholic High School and studied graphic design at LSU. He was a talented craftsman with unlimited skills and knowledge which enabled him to conquer any task asked of him.
Everyone that knew Ryan knew of his love for nature and all creatures. He was a true outdoorsman whose favorite pastime was fishing. He also enjoyed music, boating, mountain biking, watching football, and spending time with his family and beloved pets. Some of Ryan’s many talents included playing piano and guitar, drawing, and painting.
Ryan was known for his good heart, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his mother, Jaci Elizabeth Hebert of Avery Island; his father and step-mother, Chris A. Segura and Laurie Briscoe Segura of New Iberia; his sister, Lanie S. Cassidy and husband John Joseph “Jay” Cassidy, III of Erath; his brothers, Seagan Segura and Ashton Segura of New Iberia; his niece and nephew (whom he adored) Gracie Elizabeth Cassidy and Jackson Emmett Cassidy; his maternal grandmother, Dolores A. Boutte; his faithful and loving dog, Jeep; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jeffery J. Hebert, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Leon J. “LJ” Segura and Elaine Comeaux Segura; his uncle, Mickey Suire; and his beloved dogs, Maggie, Gucci, Scoop, and Storm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christian Hensgens, Jordy Suire, Jay Cassidy, Brad Manuel, Jason Verret, Dean Segura, Ron Segura, and Lance LeMaire. Honorary pallbearers are Seagan and Ashton Segura, and Luke Jones.
Because of Ryan’s love of animals, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in his name to Angel Paws Adoption Center, 1314 Troy Road, New Iberia, LA 70563 (337) 365-1923.
