NEW IBERIA - Rosemary "Gee" Davey Dancause, age 91, of Lafayette, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in Osceola, Arkansas, to Laura Legnon Davey and Robert Davey, Rosemary lived a life marked by simplicity, unwavering faith, and boundless love for her family.
A devoted Christian, Rosemary found solace in her faith and was a faithful member of the Cowboy Church in New Iberia. She held a special devotion to prayer, particularly cherishing the moments spent praying the rosary, which brought her a sense of tranquility and connection to her spiritual beliefs.
Rosemary's greatest joy in life was her family, and her love for them was immeasurable. She will be deeply missed by her son Kenneth Dancause, daughter-in-law Betty Dancause, son-in-law Marcus Gaspard, brother Michael Davey and wife Argelia, sister Beckey Prince, as well as her grandchildren Doug Gaspard, Ryan Gaspard , Michael Dancause, Shanie Fouquier, Alix Dancause, and great-grandchildren Austin Gaspard , Charlie Gaspard, Katalaya Gaspard, Cole Dancause, Blair Dancause, Ellie Fouquier, and Olivia Gaspard.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles L. Dancause, daughter Laura Gaspard, and son Charles M. Dancause. She joins her parents, Robert and Laura Legnon Davey, and numerous siblings who have gone before her.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Evangeline Funeral Home, 314 East St. Peter Street, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM on the same evening. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Rowe officiating.
Rosemary will be laid to rest in Beau Pre Memorial Park, 7605 E Old Spanish Trail, Jeanerette, Louisiana 70544.
Honoring her memory, the pallbearers will be Kenneth Dancause, Marcus Gaspard, Doug Gaspard, Charlie Gaspard, and Ryan Gaspard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Cowboy Church of New Iberia.
Rosemary "Gee" Dancause will be remembered for her love, kindness, and the simplicity that enriched the lives of those around her. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of the Lord.
