RYNELLA-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:30 PM at St. Marcellus Catholic Church for Robert Luke “RL” Crochet, age 99. Fr. James Nguyen will be the celebrant for the services and Fr. Keith Landry will concelebrate. The Mass will be live streamed via Facebook live for those not able to attend in person.
Interment will follow at St. Marcellus Mausoleum.
The family request visitation be observed on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Men’s Rosary Group will pray a rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday at 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
“R.L.” was born on July 31, 1923 in Jeanerette, LA to the late Clebert and Esme’ Landry Crochet and was one of thirteen children.
A Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was a lifelong member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church, a member of the Rotary Club and a wonderful provider for his family.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors, cutting grass and yardwork. He and his wife, Joyce were longtime members of the Hoedowners Square Downers Club and avid round dancers and instructors.
Left to cherish his memory include his sons, Charles Richard Crochet and wife Pamela J. Crochet of Cheyenne, WY; David Stephen Crochet and his wife Sharon P. Crochet of Tulsa, OK; James Matthew Crochet and his wife Alice P. Crochet of New Iberia; John Michael Crochet and his wife Aimee Crochet of West Fork, AR and Thomas Mark Crochet and his wife Ann Marie M. Crochet of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Shawn Crochet and Michelle; Jill C. Elwood and Greg; Lindsay Crochet; Adele C. Chauvin and Adam; Quincy Crochet and Elizabeth; Alexander Crochet and Alison; Emma Crochet and Lauren Crochet; nine great grandchildren, Emilie Crochet; Isabelle Crochet; Ashlyn Elwood; Lauren Elwood; Brielyn Crochet; Hudson Crochet; Hadley Chauvin; James Chauvin and Jana Chauvin and one sister, Ruby C. Halbert.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Aline Joyce Delcambre Crochet; one grandson, Nicholas Luke Crochet; one great grandson, Luke Matthew Crochet and his siblings.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Quincy Crochet, Alexander Crochet, Sid DeRouen, Allen Halbert, Adam Chauvin and Mark Lucas. James Chauvin and Hudson Crochet will be honorary pallbearers.
