NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Paul John Comeaux, age 72, at 10:00 am on Monday, March 18, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. William Blanda officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visiting hours will begin at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:00 pm. The funeral home will stay open until the service time on Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Paul passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his residence.
Born on April 1, 1946 to the late Romaine and Rose Mae Dore Comeaux, Paul was one of ten children. He was a kind man . Paul was an avid outdoorsmen. He loved to go fishing and shrimping, out in the bay or in Marsh Island, as often as possible. Paul also enjoyed riding his bike around town. He liked getting together with family and friends and cooking for everyone. He especially enjoyed when the grandchildren were around, all of whom be loved dearly. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Paul will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Shane Paul Comeaux and wife Derissa, Paula Marie Comeaux, Camie Lynn Comeaux Mejia and husband Sergio, and Jennifer Erwin and husband Larry all of New Iberia; brother, Junuis Comeaux; sisters, Shirley Bourque, Ella Delahoussaye, Lily Meyers, Cindy Comeaux; 16 grandchildren, Spencer, Jake, Christopher, Christian, Kaitlyn, Seth, Shane, Jr., Sye, Britney, Kaden, Karina, Keegan, Chance, Chelsi, Jenna, and Jade; 9 great grandchildren; and special friend, Johvanna Derouen.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn Derouen Comeaux; son, Kenneth Comeaux; parents, Romaine and Rose Comeaux; brothers, Lawrence Comeaux and Raymond Comeaux; and sisters, Mary Rogers and Laura Bourque.
Pallbearers will be Shane Comeaux, Larry Erwin, Jake Comeaux, Shane Comeaux, Jr., Sye Comeaux, and Christopher Khuu.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Spencer Comeaux, Sergio Mejia, Seth Derouen, Chance Erwin, Kaden Mejia, Keegan Mejia, and Christian Comeaux.
