Patsy Longon Blanchard

RYNELLA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Patsy Longon Blanchard, age 75, at 10:00 am Monday, October 10, 2011 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. Gene Tremie will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Monday from 7:00 am until 9:30 am.

Patsy was born March 27, 1936 to Eddie and Paula Dore Longon in Biloxi, Mississippi, and passed away peacefully Friday, October 07, 2011 at Belle Teche Nursing Home with her family at her side.

She and her husband Gary owned and operated B B & C Electrical of New Iberia for over 34 years. Patsy enjoyed traveling (especially to their timeshare in Gulf Shores), bowling, watching old movies, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother, grand and great grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughter, Patty Blanchard Poirier and husband Mike of New Iberia; granddaughters, Dusti Poirier Boudreaux and husband Lane of Loreauville and Hannah Poirier Crochet and husband Bryan of New Iberia; four great grandchildren, Jardyn and Kamille Boudreaux, and Josie and Brycen Crochet; sisters, Georgie Pellerin and husband Arthur and Rosie Bourque all of New Iberia; brother-in-law, Darby Primeaux of Westwego; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary J. Blanchard; parents, Eddie and Paula Dore Longon Bodin; step-father, Otis Bodin; sister, Audrey Primeaux; and brother, Wilfred Longon, Sr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Bourque, Lee Theriot, Eddie Primeaux, Zack Olivier, Kyle Pellerin, and Glynn Pellerin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Poirier, Lane Boudreaux and Bryan Crochet.
