Patrick Joseph Hebert, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at his residence at the age of 86. Born on January 29, 1938, in Jeanerette, Louisiana, Patrick was the son of the late Cyril Hebert, Sr., and the late Odile Hebert, one of five children born to that union.
Patrick's life was characterized by service and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before embarking on a distinguished career with the New Iberia Fire Department, where he devoted over 30 years to his department and the city of New Iberia.
Beyond his professional life, Patrick had a passion for genealogy and spent countless hours researching his ancestry, tracing his family back to the 1400s. He also found joy in carpentry and worked with Consolata Nursing Home remodeling to some wings, enjoyed camping in his earlier years, and exploring the world of computers.
Patrick will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his community, and his country. May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of service and love will live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, England Mae Perolino Hebert; his daughter, Toni Hebert Rodrigue (Kevin); his grandchildren, Patrick Anderson, Victor Anderson (Katybeth), Jason Rodrigue (Ashley) and Michael Rodrigue; and his great-grandchildren, Alexa Anderson, Ashton Rodrigue, Jake Anderson, Colton Rodrigue, Ella Anderson, Vivian Rodrigue, Lawson Anderson, and Kembree Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Vivian Smith Hebert; his son, Patrick J. "JoPat" Hebert, Jr.; and his siblings, Lorena Clark, Selina Geramie, Willie Hebert, and Cyril Hebert, Jr.
In accordance with Patrick's wishes, graveside funeral services will be held at Holy Family Mausoleum at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, where he will be laid to rest with his first wife, Vivian, and his son, JoPat.
