

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Nell Decoux Louviere, age 89, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Charles Langlois will be the celebrant and will conduct the mass. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 am until services.
Nell Decoux Louviere was born September 19, 1922 in St. Martinville to Alfred and Lucide Melancon Decoux, and passed away peacefully at 6:33 am Sunday, September 9, 2012, just ten days before she was to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Miss Nell was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Children of Mary and the Religious Community of the Third Order of Our Lady of Mr. Carmel. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Diner, and Dauterive Hospital where she received a 1500 hour service pin, of which she was very proud. She enjoyed sewing, working in her yard, and reading.
Mrs. Louviere was a kind and gentle woman who was a living example of the definition of Love, and a faithful prayer warrior.
Survivors include her daughters, Olga Louviere of New Iberia, Letrice Broussard and husband Michael Wayne of New Iberia, and Madeline Viator and husband Kyle of Broussard; seven grandchildren, Micah Broussard and wife Beryl, Molly, Sarah, Ruth, and Simon Broussard, Kally VanCleve and husband Jacob, and Luke Viator and fiancée Shannon Trim; eight great grandchildren, Gabriel, Sophia, Julius, Sienna, and Nadia Broussard, Peyton Pommier, Oliver Romero, and Zoe VanCleve; her brother, Leroy Decoux and wife Mazel of New Iberia; and sister-in-law, Doris Decoux of St. Martinville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy J. Louviere; her son, Cornell Louviere; parents, Alfred and Lucide Decoux; brother, Ned Decoux, and a nephew, Kim Decoux.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne, Micah, Simon, and Gabe Broussard, and Kyle and Luke Viator.
