Michael James Thibodeaux, age 70, of Weeks Island, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 6, 1954, to the late Adolph "Douphy" and Joyce Rogers Thibodeaux, Michael lived a life rich with passion and adventure.
For many years, Michael was employed at Cajun Sugar Co-Op and most recently at St. Mary Sugar Co-Op, where he was a dedicated worker and respected colleague. Outside of his professional life, he found immense joy in the great outdoors, particularly fishing, which brought him peace and fulfillment.
An aviation enthusiast at heart, Michael had an unwavering admiration for the Blue Angels. He cherished every moment spent building model planes, delving into aviation history, and visiting aviation museums. Family road trips to air shows were a highlight of his life, and he never embarked on these journeys without his trusty Tootsie Pop in hand.
Michael's interests extended beyond aviation; he was an avid reader, enjoyed playing the guitar, and had a knack for woodworking and gun building. Evenings were often spent indulging in his love for aviation-themed movies, always accompanied by his favorite treat—chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Alsdurf Thibodeaux, one son, Jason Michael Thibodeaux and his wife Monica; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Thibodeaux; three grandchildren, Katelyn Davis and husband William; Evan Thibodeaux and Presley Thibodeaux; one great-grandchild, Oakley Paige Davis and one brother, Kevin Thibodeaux.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Adolph “Butch” Thibodeaux, Jr. and Dwight Thibodeaux and his son in law, Justin K. Bradley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau. Fr. Garrett Savoie will officiate.
