COTEAU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Maud Breaux Viator at 11:00 am Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Harrington will be the celebrant. Mrs. Viator will be laid to rest at the church mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Thursday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am, with the Catholic Daughters leading the Rosary at 9:30 am.
Maud was born March 18, 1927 in Jefferson Island to the late Edrase Breaux and Anita David Breaux and passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 in New Iberia.
Mrs. Viator worked as an Inspector with Martin Mills in St. Martinville for 17 ½ years, and previously with Del’s Restaurant. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting and quilting, and playing Bingo and Pokeno.
She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her sons, Michael P. Viator of New Iberia and Delane J. Viator and wife Johnna of Avery Island; her grandchildren, Chad Viator, Shanon Bienvenu, Nicholas Viator, Brandi Babineaux and Breigh Viator; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and her brother, Minos Breaux and wife Irene.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Viator; and her siblings, Wilson Breaux, Edward Breaux, Eula Judice, Dilta LeBlanc and Jessie Breaux.
Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the administration, staff and residents of New Iberia Manor Nursing Home for the care, friendship and love of Maud. They would also like to thank the staff of Bridgeway Hospice for their exceptional care as well. God bless you all.
