LYDIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Matilde Delcambre “Mutt” Jolet, 88, at 2 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fr. Gregory Chauvin will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Monday from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 11:30 am led by her granddaughter, Andrea Jolet.
Mrs. Jolet was born September 20, 1922 in Delcambre, LA to Clomer and Naomi Delcambre. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at her residence with her family at her side.
Matilde was retired after working for over 40 years with Morton Salt at Weeks Island. She was devoted to the love and care of her family and enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with them as often as possible. Matilde also loved trips to the casino with her friends, watching baseball (especially the Braves and Yankees) and watching EWTN. She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son, Ray Jolet and his wife Claire Comeaux Jolet, who was her faithful caretaker, of Lydia; son-in-law, Keith Zimmerman of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Eric Jolet and Lindsay Valls, Elliot Jolet and Genee Monte, Ashley Jolet and Blake Miguez, Andrea Jolet and D-Ray Phillips, Paige Jolet, Tara Jolet, Paul Zimmerman, and Tiffany Z. Burt and husband Steven; twelve great-grandchildren, Izabel and Colin Nguyen, Bryce and Grant Norris, Maddox Nacol, Brittany, Brandy, Brooke, and Bailee Burt, Hayden and Hunter Theriot, and Eric Anthony Jolet, Jr.; and her sisters, Eunice Jolet and Mabel Bodin both of Lydia.
She was was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. “Chink” Jolet; her daughter, Julianna Jolet Zimmerman; parents, Clomer Delcambre and Naomi and Rivers Broussard; and her sisters, Anna Mae, Marie, and Aunt Mae.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
