NEW IBERIA – Private Funeral Services were conducted for Mrs. William “Bill” B. Rowell, the former Marjorie Whitley, age 92, at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2019 at with Rev. David Jeffreys officiating. Interment followed at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation was held from2:00 pm on Saturday until time of service.
A native of Montgomery, AL and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Rowell passed away at 6:30 am on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at her son’s residence.
Mrs. Rowell was employed by Bell South as a Manager for many years and was a member of the Pioneer Telephone Association.
Mrs. Rowell was an Atlanta Braves fan and an avid gardener who enjoyed tending her flowers and plants. She had a love for beautiful things and was a collector of Waterford Crystal.
She will be missed dearly by her family and her beloved dog “Bear”.
She is survived by her son, Jim Rowell and wife Kerri of New Iberia, four grandchildren, Abbie R. Stanley and husband Nathan; Tate Rowell; Diana R. Hess and husband Andrew and Errin Rowell and companion Max Derise; two great grandchildren, Whitley Stanley and Pierce Derise: her daughter in law, Karen Rowell of Johnson City, TN and her brother, Johnny Sullivan and wife Paula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” B. Rowell; her son, Bill Rowell; her parents, Robert Louis and Foy Bernice Perkins Whitley; and her siblings, Bill Whitley and Betty Mattson.
