NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mabel Frederick Landry, age 93, at 10:00 am Monday, October 24, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Bill J. Melancon will be the celebrant. Mrs. Landry will be laid to rest with her husband at Memorial Park Mausoleum immediately following the mass.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 6:30 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Monday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A native of Kaplan and resident of New Iberia, Mabel passed away October 21, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Mabel was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mabel was employed and retired with ACE Uniform. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and shopping. She was also known for her amazing banana pudding. Mabel will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanelle Landry Tullier and spouse Richard Tullier of New Iberia; her sons, Larry J. Landry and spouse Yvonne Berard Landry of Cecilia, and Jeffery Landry of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, Kelly Landry and wife Nikki of Duson, Marty Menard and wife Cheri of Coteau, Monica McClendon and husband Ray of New Iberia, Joey Landry and wife Heather of Cecilia, Richard Tullier, Jr. and wife Holly of Youngsville, Rusty Tullier and companion Camille of Parks, Coty Landry and wife Jamie of Cecilia, and Trey Landry. Mabel was also privileged to have 17 great grandchildren, and is also survived by her sister, Gladys Frederick Guillot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Landry; her parents Elmo and Azima Frederick; her granddaughter, Rachel Tullier, her son-in-law, James Menard; two sisters, Inez Delcambre and Grace Bourque; and her brothers, Murphy and Lester Frederick.
Serving as pallbearers are Kelly Landry, Marty Menard, Joey Landry, Richard Tullier, Jr., Rusty Tullier and Coty. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff and Larry Landry, Kaleb McClendon, Kenner McClendon and Jordan Landry.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to St. Joseph Hospice, especially her caregivers, Phil and Cheryl.
