LYDIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Mabel Landry Breaux, age 94, at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fr. Gregory Chauvin will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Mrs. Breaux passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Iberia Medical Center with her family at her side.
Mabel was born February 2, 1918 in Patoutville to Caliste and Eva Stansbury Landry and was one of eleven children. She was a homemaker, but worked outside the home as well. She worked briefly with Morton Salt, but many will remember her as a seamstress and sales person with Beall’s and Wormsers.
She had a love of flowers and dancing, and was a member of the Iberia Boat Club, and Council on Aging in Morgan City. Mabel leaves behind many fond memories and will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her children, Gerald Myers and companion Wilda Hite, and Cheryl Frawley all of Lydia; 6 grandchildren, Nanette Myers and companion Stacy Meche of Mire, Crystal Myers of Lydia, Dawn Trahan and husband Raymond and Steven Frawley and wife Cyndi all of New Iberia, Jeffrey Frawley of Lydia, and Tim Frawley and wife Renee of Scott; 9 great grandchildren, Cheramie, Haley, Hunter, Chyann, Brianne, Avri, Bryce, Chance and Gina; 2 great great grandchildren, Caydence and Cannon; and three sisters, Clara Dupre and Agnes Hebert of Lydia, and Gertrude Thibodeaux of New Iberia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Caliste and Eva Stansbury Landry; son-in-law, James J. Frawley, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Elda Vera Hebert Myers; brothers, Dominic, Ezeb and August Landry; and sisters, Euphemie Derise, Marie Guillotte, Alma Broussard and Virginia Louviere.
Serving as pallbearers are Steven, Jeffrey and Tim Frawley, Hunter Trahan, Rory Hebert, and Ron Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Trahan, Donald Derise and Dennis Myers.
