With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Loretta Viator, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by her cherished family.
Born on June 23rd, 1947, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Loretta shared her birthday with her twin sister, Lorena. She spent her formative years in the heart of West Virginia with her parents, Blanche Marie and Nyle Perry Stalnaker, her sister, Lorena, and her brothers, James and Terry Stalnaker.
In her twenties, Loretta embarked on a new chapter, moving to New Iberia, Louisiana, where she met the love of her life, Roy Viator. Their marriage, a testament to enduring love and devotion, spanned 53 years, a remarkable journey shared with their two children, Maria and Michael Viator. She devoted her life to caring for her children and her love for her family was the foundation of her life.
Beyond her role as a devoted mother, Loretta possessed a vibrant spirit expressed through her love of music and dancing. She found joy in playing the keyboard and electric guitar, filling her life and the lives of those around her with melody. She also cherished her friendships, finding camaraderie and laughter in her monthly Pokeno nights with her close circle of friends.
Loretta's legacy lives on through her son, Michael Viator; her daughter, Maria Bullock, and Maria’s husband, Gregory; her grandchildren, Jacklyn Aiello and Whitney Bullock; her twin sister, Lorena Stalnaker Corona; her brother, James Stalnaker and his wife Caroll. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Terry Stalnaker.
A Memorial Service celebrating Loretta's life will be held on Saturday, May 17th, at 11:00 AM at The Glorious Church, followed by a small reception. We invite family and friends to join us in sharing cherished memories and offering condolences during this time of loss. The address is 1216 David St. in New Iberia.
