It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kalem Joseph Romero, age 40, of New Iberia, who departed from this world on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Kalem's journey began in Lafayette, Louisiana, born to Bonnie Romero Vedrines and Markland Theriot.
Kalem was known for his friendly and approachable nature. He had a knack for making friends wherever he went and was deeply loved by many. Above all, he cherished his role as a father, showing unwavering love and care for his daughters, Valerie and Makenzi.
He is survived by his daughters, mother Bonnie Romero Vedrines, brother Wyatt Vedrines, sister Tiffani Vedrines, brother Markland Theriot, Jr, brother Trace Jones, sister Nia Jones, and grandchild, Hayes Joseph.
He is preceded in death by his father Markland Theriot, stepfather Gregory Tiffan Vedrines, maternal grandmother Irene Fitch, and paternal grandparents Raul and Rita Romero.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at Evangeline Funeral Home, located at 314 East St. Peter Street, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM led by the Men’s Rosary Group.
Following the visitation, Kalem will be laid to rest in the serene surroundings of Holy Family Mausoleum, situated at 2807 Curtis Ln, New Iberia, Louisiana 70560.
In honoring Kalem's life, members and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. Ryan Meche, Wyatt Vedrines, Markland Theriot, Trace Jones, Edward Collette, and Mike Borel.
Though Kalem may have departed from our midst, his memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts, a reminder of the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine, and may his family and loved ones find solace in the cherished moments they shared with him.
