Julia Lorraine Bradley

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Julia Lorraine Bradley, age 76, at 11:00 am Friday, June 13, 2014 at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am on Friday until service time at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church, 423 East Pershing Street, New Iberia, LA.

A native of Jeanerette and resident of New Iberia, Ms. Bradley passed away at 7:05 am on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Iberia Manor South.

Julia was employed by Iberia Parish School Board and retired after 30 years of service. She was recognized as the first African American Special Education Teacher in Iberia Parish. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, making puzzles and cooking.

She is survived by her sisters, Josie A. Harris of Chicago, Illinois, Leona M. Singleton of Fort Knox, Kentucky and Linda M. Butts of Jeanerette; brother in law, John Dickerson of Maringouin and godchild, Jackie Lyons Copeland of Dallas, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezekiel and Ella Butts Bradley, Sr.; one brother, Ezekiel Bradley, Jr., and one sister, Priscilla B. Dickerson.
