LYDIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Joseph Hebert, age 77, at 1:30 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Chauvin officiating. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Mausoleum
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.
A native of Weeks Island and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Joseph passed away at 9:39 pm on Tuesday, September, 2016 at Iberia Medical Center.
Born on March 29, 1939 to the late Walter P. and Irene Troney Hebert, Joseph was an only child. He proudly served his country in the United States Armed Forces from 1966–1968 where he was stationed at Fort Gordon, GA. He was later employed at Morton Salt Mine as an inventory clerk where he worked until his retirement. Joseph was very passionate about sports, especially football. His favorite teams were the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers. Joseph also enjoyed carpentry, working with his tools, and fishing. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Guidroz Hebert; sons, Blair J. Hebert and wife Liz and Paul F. Hebert; and one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Irene Hebert; and grandparents, Lucien and Marie Hebert.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
