Joseph Ewell Delahoussaye Sr.

LYDIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Joseph Ewell Delahoussaye, Sr., age 65, at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Chauvin officiating. Interment will be follow at Broussard Cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Delahoussaye passed away at 5:44 pm on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Dauterive Hospital.

Mr. Delahoussaye enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing and spoiling his dog “Bella”. He loved spending time with his family, whom affectionately called him “Pappy”.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Hazel Bergeron Delahoussaye; his children, Leonard “Chuchie” LeBlanc and wife Tammy; Rometa Horton and husband Russell; Romona Comeaux and Heidi LeBlanc all of New Iberia and Keith Delahoussaye and Joseph Ewell Delahoussaye, Jr. both of Carencro; four brothers, Nelson Delahoussaye and wife Ella; Mercy Delahoussaye and wife Gloria; Presley Delahoussaye and Gerald Delahoussaye all of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, Raquelle H. Romero and husband Orie; Rusty Horton; Haley Comeaux; Keith Comeaux, Jr.; Paige LeBlanc; Ashley Duhon; Krystal Dore and Jason Dore and one great granddaughter, Addilyn Romero.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignace “T-Nee” and Edith Trahan Delahoussaye; two brothers, Leroy Delahoussaye and Dennis Delahoussaye and two sisters, Aline D. Romero and Elia D. Buteau.

Pallbearers will be Russell Horton, Rusty Horton, Heidi LeBlanc, Haley Comeaux, Keith Comeaux, Jr., Orie Romero and Leonard “Chuchie” LeBlanc.
