Johnny Paul Comeaux

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Johnny Paul Comeaux, age 64, at 10:00 am on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Fr. Edward Duhon will be the celebrant. Interment will be held in Holy Family Mausoleum at a later date.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Friday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.

Johnny was born August 28, 1948 in St. Martinville to Joseph Preston Comeaux and Hazel Marie Bourque Comeaux, and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his residence, with his family at his side.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Trahan Comeaux of Erath; three daughters, Laura Darby and husband Melvin James Darby, Jr. of New Iberia, Denise Dore and husband Todd of Fourchon, Michelle Segura and husband Keith of Erath; five sons, Keith Comeaux, Sr. of New Iberia, Mark Comeaux and wife Pamela of Delcambre, Michael Comeaux, Sr. and wife Stephanie of New Iberia, Lonnie Comeaux of Kinder, and Ronnie Comeaux of Erath; 23 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Tauzin and husband Lloyd Breaux Bridge, Gayle Larriviere and husband Mike of Broussard; and two brothers, Larry Comeaux and wife Shelly of Youngsville, and Donald Comeaux and wife Linda of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Preston Comeaux and hazel Bourque Comeaux; a brother, Allen Comeaux; two sisters, Cheryl Bourque and Rebecca Sonnier; nephews, Josh Larriviere and Shane Sonnier; niece, Shannon Sonnier; and his faithful dogs, Little Girl and Daisy Lou.

Pallbearers will be Keith Comeaux, Sr., Mark Comeaux, Michael Comeaux, Sr., Ronnie Comeaux, Mike Comeaux, Jr., Tyler Comeaux, Kyle Segura, Keith Comeaux, Jr., Eric Darby, Todd Dore’, James Darby, and Keith Segura.
