NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Jean Clevis Romero, age78, at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Garrett Savoy will serve as celebrant for the services. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am on Friday until service time. There will be a rosary recited at 11:00 am.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero passed away at 1:15 pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Romero was an Electrician by trade, was a member of the National Guard for 20 years and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Most important to him was spening time with his family and serving the Lord through ministry at Calvary Cross Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Verna Simon Romero of New Iberia; one son, Marvin Bourque and wife Melissa of Erath; four grandchildren, Shawntell Girard and husband Ryan and Trey Renard all of New Iberia; Megan Bourque and Britney Bourque both of Erath; six great grandchildren, Baylee Girard, Caden Girard, Zaiden Girard, Makinlee Girard, Brylan Bourque and Alerah Renard; four brothers, Carol Romero and wife Brenda and Lloyd Romero all of New Iberia; Larry Romero and wife Linda and Lawrence Romero all of St. Martinville; five sisters, Virginia R. Buteaux and Raywood; Betty Romero and husband Kerry and Julie R. Naquin and husband Lonnie all of St. Martinville; Beverly R. Simon and husband Lester and Linda R. Sundberg and husband Mike all of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Romero; daughter, Shawn R. Menard; granddaughter, Kortni Duhon and his parents, Clevis Michel and Julie LeBlanc Romero.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Girard, Larry Romero, Lloyd Romero, Lawrence Romero, Virginia R. Buteaux, Betty Romero, Linda R. Sundberg and Julie R. Naquin. Beverly R. Simon, Carol Romero and Shawntell Girard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
