Fr. James Nguyen, Pastor of St. Marcellus Catholic Church will officiate at the services.
Mr. Stevens will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family requests that visiting hours be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until time of service.
Ira Paul Stevens, Sr. affectionately known as “Pete” was born on October 31, 1937 in Patoutville, LA to the late Joseph and Azelie Sonnier Stevens.
Pete was a hardworking family man who worked as a contractor for many years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Bayou Blue Beagle field trial club.
He loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed cooking for all of them on Christmas Eve.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Mona Conner Stevens; his sons, Zachery Stevens and Kathy; Randall Stevens and Diana; Craig Stevens and Sharon; Ira Stevens, Jr. and Christopher Stevens; one daughter, Dawn Bentley; fifteen grandchildren, forty great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren and his former daughters in law, Marion Stevens and Lynette Stevens.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jenera Stevens; two great grandchildren, Carson and Adeline Stevens; two brothers, Irvin Stevens and his twin, Ivory Stevens; four sisters, Gernice Romero, Gussie Romero, Adelia Thibodeaux and Gurtie Bouton and his daughters in law, Maretta Stevens, Laurie Ann Stevens and Jenny Stevens.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Zachery Stevens, Jr., Randall Stevens, Jr., Jeremy Stevens, Johnathan Cote’, Don Louis, II and Alex Romero. His sons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
